In comparison to drum brakes, disc brakes provide better stopping performance since the disc is more readily cooled. As a consequence discs are less likely to this brake fade generated when brake components overheat.
Disc brakes also recover more rapidly from immersion (wet brakes are less powerful than dry ones).
