In comparison to drum brakes, disc brakes provide better stopping performance since the disc is more readily cooled. As an outcome discs are somewhat less prone to this brake fade caused when brake components overheat.
Disc brakes also recover more rapidly from immersion (moist brakes are less powerful than dry ones).
